1. Does rain clean my solar panels?

A: No. Here in Texas we have, Pine, Pollen, Dust, Farms, Humidity, and much more to consider. The best example to bring this into perspective is your car. If you rely on the rain to wash your car you might get some dirt off. Now, imaging not washing your vehicle for 6 months. Dirt will build up and begin to layer over and over. 2. Do I need to clean my solar panels?

A: Yes, Absolutely.

Roof top solar modules and solar modules in solar farms, and utility companies, all have the same function. Convert sunlight into energy. When the glass on the panels begin to build a coat of (soiling) dirt or bird droppings, the covered area begins to loose significate conversion efficiency. Depending on the soiling of a module, some cases have realized a 10% - 30% reduction in efficiency.

3. How often should I clean my solar panels?

A: Does it rain regularly? Constant wind, How about pollen? Big city Pollution? Smoke? Residential installation can be cleaned annually at a minimum, but if you desire maximum performance you may want to consider bi-annually, or quarterly. Commercial or larger solar energy produces may require cleaning at least two times a year.

4. Can I do it myself?

​

A: Of course you can. Is it recommended? No. Taking on this task yourself could put you in a position where you damage your solar panels. With that in mind, do consider the safety element. Your modules are located on your roof—most often. We are specially trained to climb and work on roofs.

 

Attempting to clean your solar panels with a dry broom could scratch your glass surface causing permanent damage.

5. How much does a professional solar cleaning cost?

​

A:  Residential - This depends on the accessibility of your modules, how often you want them cleaned, and size of the installation. Typical residential installation runs between $185 - $375.
